Art is Therapy for Poor People

I was feeling kind of crappy this week, so I've been working on a few new art pieces for my portfolio. Drawing and designing usually makes me feel better unless I can't think of something to draw or create. Today I settled on doing a vector drawing of one of my idols bellydancer Rachel Brice because she reminds me of the dancer and the person I want to be. I highly doubt I'll ever be that skilled, but a girl can dream. Speaking of which, I'm mulling over dancing solo at a renfaire in a month or two, if I can conquer my innate fear of preforming in public and come up with a good routine. So, light a candle for my self-confidence or whatever you do.
The other drawings this week, Desert Goddess and Fremen were more or less whims. Desert Goddess is an idea I've been tossing around in the back of my mind for awhile. I'm not entirely satisfied with how she turned out, but until I can get a better graphics program, it'll have to do. As for the Fremen, I always felt a strong connection to the desert-dwelling people of Dune. In the Frank Herbert version, they have such a depth of expression that I would love to do a series on them, when I can find the time and improve my vectoring skills. I think Portrait of a Dancer is a step in the right direction as far as that's concerned.
